Glazing – sealing
Glazing – sealing in the Zürich area – precise execution, on‑schedule handover.
Eurofugen – Glazing – sealing in the Zürich area. We prepare the joint plan, verify substrate strength and movement, and select an approved system (neutral‑cure silicone, hybrid/MS polymer, PU) in strict accordance with manufacturer specs. Focus: PVC – Denkmalschutz. Planning priority: Diffusionskonzept & Randzonen. Standards: EN 15651 / ISO 11600; principle “tighter inside than outside”.
Quality & acceptance
- UV/weather‑resistant sealants fit to exposure
- Ensure bond at two flanks; prevent three‑sided adhesion using PE backer rod
- Crisp edges without staining
- Documented execution incl. photo record
- Joint width/depth per plan (≈ 2:1)
Planning & preparation
We verify weather and dew point; application only on dry, load‑bearing flanks. Joint layout based on panel sizes and anticipated movement; critical edge zones are eased. Primers are chosen per substrate absorption (e.g., clinker, fair‑faced concrete, fibre cement). Create square, sound flanks, define depth and install the closed‑cell backer rod precisely. Mock‑ups with cut‑and‑pull checks provide pre‑approval. Detailing at edges, reveals and penetrations is recorded in drawings.
Application & control
Use UV‑stable systems and protect adjacent surfaces from contamination. Random cut‑and‑pull checks, width/depth measurements and visual inspection are recorded. Maintain movement capability; remove masking in due time and verify edge adhesion. Apply sealant without bubbles, fill the joint evenly and tool to a slightly concave profile. Transitions at profile joints and material changes are re‑worked separately.
On natural stone we use low‑migration, stone‑safe systems.
Joint routing aligns with the building’s movement grid.
Care guidance and maintenance intervals are included at handover.
Interfaces to adjacent trades are clarified to avoid follow‑on damage.

Planning & preparation
Clean substrates, define edges and limit bond areas; primers & backer rod are matched to substrate and width. Mock‑ups and dew‑point checks secure approval. Interfaces are coordinated before start.
Frequently asked questions (Windows & doors)
-
How to avoid condensation?
Airtight inside, rain‑tight outside plus ventilation strategy.
-
Will sealant adhere to coated timber/aluminium/PVC?
Yes, with sound substrate and approved primer; sample recommended.
-
What joint width for Glazing – sealing?
By movement and profile; 2:1 geometry with backer rod to avoid three‑sided adhesion.
-
How do you achieve rain‑ and air‑tightness for Glazing – sealing?
Outside rain‑tight/UV‑stable, inside airtight; principle “tighter inside than outside”.
-
Partial refurbishment possible?
Yes—new sections blended optically/technically.
-
What documentation do I receive?
Photo record, materials and handover checklist.
-
How to refurbish putty glazing?
Remove old putty, clean/prime rebates, re‑putty/elastically seal.
